The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Wa West Constituency, Supt. (rtd.) Peter Toobu Lanchene, has provided funding to start the construction of a medical ward to accommodate children on admission at the Dorimon Health Centre.

Having initiated the entire process by first financing the laying of blocks for the project, the Hon MP has again given an amount of five thousand cedis (GHC 5,000.00) to the community to begin the building of the Children’s Ward.

Donating the money on behalf of the MP, the Wa West Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Mathew Vaari indicated that the Hon MP’s vision is to have a healthy constituency with all persons having good life. He said it is the belief of Mr. Toobu that every constituent must live healthy irrespective of where they find themselves or their age.

Mr. Vaari charged the community members to take charge of the project as their own and do all they can to ensure it is completed in due course. According to him, the MP has resolved to fund the construction of the Children’s Ward project to its completion if only the residents are ready to provide labour. He added that the Hon MP is willing to support any community where the people are ready to help themselves.

Chairman Vaari also advised residents of Dorimon and the entire constituency to take their health serious, and to always adhere to professional counsel from the health workers. He expressed confidence that the Dorimon Health Centre will soon be upgraded to a polyclinic, thus urged the residents to continue to use the facility.

Mr. Vaari also admonished the community to help in maintaining public facilities provided them by the MP or any other person.

This is not the first time the Dorimon Health Centre is getting support from the MP. It will be recalled that he established a medical laboratory at the facility and also supported the community with other health activities including health screenings.

The In-charge of the Dorimon Sub-District, Mr. Kareem Dalo, on behalf of the health workers and the community thanked the MP through the NDC Chairman. He urged the people of Dorimon and its environs to rise and act fast to start the building.

He said the project is not just for the people of Dorimon but all other communities within the Dorimon Sub-District, and the entire Wa West District. He expressed belief that the legislator will again come to support once the funds provided are exhausted in the process.

Mr. Dalo said health is a shared responsibility, adding that the project should not be seen as just the MP’s and therefore called on other benevolent individuals and organisations to support if they can.

In a related development, the Wa West lawmaker has made available materials costing about GHC 5,000.00 to help solve water crisis at the St. Ignatius Health Centre in Lassia. The materials which comprise electricity pole, aluminum cables and service drop, pump control, meter board and switch, earth rod, and many others will help connect the facility to borehole located a far from it. This will help prevent the long walks embarked by health workers at the facility in search of water to take care of patients.

The In-charge of the St. Ignatius Health Centre, Rev. Sr. Mary Veronica Balaara, was full of joy at the development. She thanked the MP for his benevolence. The Reverend Sister was particularly happy that the MP responded to the call even on a short notice.

Sister Veronica pledged they will use the water judiciously and do well to maintain the faciltity for the foreseeable future. She however pleaded that a borehole should be sunk at the facility as that will be more befitting for them. She also called for a toilet to be built at the Centre as the current toilet of about three decades is caving in, becoming a death trap for patients who visit the facility.

Mr. Mathew Vaari was accompanied by other constituency executives and party faithfuls to do the donations on behalf of the Hon Member of parliament.
