The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Wa Central Constituency, Dr. Hassan Rashid Pelpuo, has today, January 6, 2024, donated rice to the inmates of the Wa Central Prison.
The items donated included five bags of maiz from his own farm and four mini bags of Chef’s Choice rice.
While making the donation, the Honourable MP lamented the huge number of the inmates and the nature of accommodation facility they have, thus, promised to work around the clock to provide additional rooms to the current number they have.
Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, the officer on duty, DSP Tawel Evelyn thanked the MP and indicated the happiness of the inmates. While pledging to ensure the judicious use of the food items, she appealed to Dr. Rashid Pelpuo for more support.
The MP was accompanied by members of the Executive Committee of the NDC in the Wa Central Constituency. The Wa Central Prison has 210 inmates, with eight of them being on remand while one is in condemned cell. Six (6) of the convicted are foreigners from Ecowas member countries including Togo and Burkina Faso.
