Newly registered voters, numbering over two thousand, have indicated their resolve to vote for Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Wa East Constituency, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when elections are held on December 7, 2024.

The first timers expressed their readiness to vote for the MP over the weekend as they walked through the streets of Goripie and Manwe, two major communities in the constituency.

The walk, which started from Goripie, saw the enthusiastic youth and supporters of the NDC walked all the way to Manwe where they were addressed by the Constituency Executives and some other stalwarts of the party.

Speaking to the first time voters on behalf of the MP, the Wa East Constituency Secretary, Yakubu Jendaw gave an assurance that the MP will help them acquire jobs when the NDC wins power.

“We are ready to fix you in the positions that will be created by the visionary John Mahama who will be coming to power in 7th January,2025”, he declared.

He also reiterated the MP’s desire to expand electricity to all communities in the constituency that are without access.

“The MP has started fixing some solar-powered streetlights in some communities that are yet to be connected to the national grid. Residents in these communities are also Ghanaians and must enjoy from the taxes they pay.” He said, stressing that Dr. Jasaw will ensure every community in the constituency has access to electricity under the next NDC government.

Mr. Jendaw remarked that the NDC is the only party that can develop the country without imposing high taxes on businesses and the citizenry.

Thus, he underscored the need for the walk to be replicated in all corners of the constituency to drum home the need to maintain Dr. Jasaw and vote the NDC back to power “to save the country from total collapse”.

On his part, the former NDC Upper West Regional Treasurer, Prince Razak Tachi, admonished the first time voters not to allow themselves to be deceived by the political gimmicks of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said most of the NPP’s flagship programs have failed, which has led to the hardship being experienced in the country.

“Today Free Senior High School has become a scam on Ghanaians. Look at the cost parents still go through when their wards are going to school”, he lamented.

Prince Razak, who lost to Dr. Jasaw during the NDC primaries, said he is ever ready to lead the campaigns of the MP and that of John Dramani Mahama into wining the 2024 elections. He further urged all Party members to play active roles to cement the impending victory of the NDC.

Some of the new voters who took part in the walk expressed satisfaction with the work of the MP thus far.

Asana Zakari, who spoke to this network, lauded the MP for organising such an event for first time voters. She was upbeat with the performance of Godfred Jasaw, indicating that “he is a visible MP and any time we watch television, we see him talking about Wa East and we are always happy”.

She pledged to make sure that all those who took part in the walk and others who could not will all vote for the NDC on December 7.

“We want to be employed after school. He gave us sanitary pads and mathematical sets when we were to write our BECE and we will never forget it. That was not his first time, even when he was not an mp he used to help us a lot,” Asana stated.

Like Asana, many of the first time voters believe that Dr. Jasaw is the best man for the job. They, therefore, want voters to give him another four years together with his Presidential Candidate for a better Wa East.
