As vetting continues for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) aspirants in the Upper West Region, Timothy Diedeme has been considered by many in the Nadowli/Kaleo District (NKD) as the best man for the job.
Timothy, Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nadowli/Kaleo Constituency (NKC), is said to be a grassroot person who knows the Party very well.
Some natives believe Mr. Diedeme, 44, will better represent the interests of the district and party if given the opportunity.
A resident who spoke to this portal, on condition of anonymity, indicated that Timothy is well positioned to lead the development agenda of NKD.
“For me, I think he will do a good job. He has been an assemblyman, in fact, presiding member before,” he stated. “So, who could do it better than him?” He quizzed
A branch executive said, “Hon. Timothy knows the ins and outs of this party and will be able to attend to the needs of party members as DCE. I think we need someone who knows party members and loves the party. He’s the choice of the grassroots”
“Oh, Timothy is a great person who loves his party, NDC. Beyond that, I believe in his competence. He understands our challenges as a district. So, I will urge President Mahama to appoint him as the DCE,” a female resident posited.
Timothy is in the race with 15 others. All went through vetting yesterday as the Regional Vetting Committee will submit three names to the Office of the President to decide on the final nominee for the post.
Timothy Diedeme comes to the contest with 25 years of party service, having served as an executive in various positions since 2000.
He has been the NKC scribe since 2014, having served as branch executive as well as TEIN executive during his university days.
In addition to being the secretary, he is also a member of the NDC Regional Communication team.
The longest serving Constituency Secretary in the region also served as Assembly Member at the NKD, representing the people of Nator Electoral Area from 2015 to 2023.
In his time as Assembly member, he occupied various positions, including Presiding Member, Chairman of Justice and Security and Chairman of Public Relations and Complaints committees.
These, residents believe, equipped him with the requisite knowledge and experience of local governance, necessary for a DCE.
Hon. Timothy Diedeme is a professional teacher with about 20 years of experience.
He holds an MPhil in Development Management from the University for Development Studies, Tamale, having acquired his first degree in Integrated Development Studies from the same institution. He also obtained Teachers’ Cert A from the NJA College of Education, Wa.
Mr. Diedeme’s education, profession, as well as his political and local government experience, make him an endearing candidate for the post of DCE for the Nadowli/Kaleo District.
