Breastfeeding nurse seeks support for kidney transplant in India

Ashida Abass Nyasu is a 29-year-old nurse who works at the Tumu Municipal Hospital in the Sisaala East Municipality of the Upper West Region of Ghana.

Madam Ashida is married with two kids, one being a three-month-old baby girl.

On January 14, 2025, Ashida was diagnosed with kidney failure at the Upper West Regional Hospital which has since turned her life upside-down.
She is currently battling for her life at the Korlebu Hospital in Accra, the capital of Ghana.

This breastfeeding mother of two has been giving her all at the Tumu Municipal Hospital until this unfortunate turn of events.

Clinical recommendation is that the ailing nurse be sent to India for a kidney transplant at a cost beyond the strength of her immediate family.

The transplant is estimated to cost USD 18,500. This does not include money for flight to and from India, feeding, and any contingencies.

Against this background, the ailing nursing mother and nurse and her family are making a passionate appeal for financial support to enable them transport her to India to undergo the transplant.

Ashida and her family will appreciate any support offered.
