The communications bureaus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the eleven (11) constituencies of the Upper West Region have taken delivery of motorbikes to aid their activities. The Ghana Police Service has arrested nine persons for publication of false news regarding the alleged disappearance of their genitals that led to fear and panic among the public and attacks on innocent citizens. Police investigations, including medical examinations, disclosed that all the claims are false. Six persons have been arrested in Kasoa, in the Central Region, two in Ashaiman, in the Greater Accra Region, and another in Nkawkaw, in the Eastern Region, for making such false claims of missing genitals. The Network for Women’s Rights in Ghana (NETRIGHT) is calling for the annulment of the reported marriage between a 63-year-old traditional ruler, Nuumo Borketey Laweh XXXIII in Nungua and 12-year-old Naa Okromo as it violates the fundamental human rights of the child. The Ghana Health Service (GHS) in four regions of the North (Upper West, Upper East, North East and Northern) has been given a boost in the form of state-of-the-art equipment necessary for health service delivery. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) donated various hospital equipment valued at $1 million, which is equivalent to GHC12.6 million. Former president, John Dramani Mahama has suggested that it will be appropriate if the Ghana Armed Forces are excluded from the management of the 2024 general elections.
