The Education Directorate in Wa West has inaugurated a thirteen-member Disciplinary Committee (DC) to check infractions in respect of the code of ethics of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
Speaking at the inauguration of the DC, the Wa West District Director of Education and Vice Chairman of the Conference of Directors of Education (CODE) in Ghana, Mr. Amatus D. Tug-uu, said the choice of the committee members was painstakingly done with due consideration of their pedigree and commitment to discipline at their various work places.
Mr. Tug-uu, tasked the Committee members to ensure fairness in the application of rules and to work assiduously to position the Wa West District Education Directorate as the beacon of discipline within the Upper West Region.
The CODE Vice Chairman indicated that the basic role of the Committee is to ensure ethical issues are professionally addressed in order to ensure amicable resolution of complaints. By this, the DC is charged with determining the merit of complaints, collecting related facts through disciplinary hearings and taking decisions on the complaints brought before it.
The membership of the District Discipline Committee was made up of thirteen (13) people with two representations from the GES and one rep from CHOBS, NAGRAT, GNAT and COMEU. The rest were selected from WWDA, SHS, TEWU, traditional authority, DEOC, Social Welfare and Parents Association in the district. Mr. Imoru Inusah, Chairman of the disciplinary committee, who spoke on behalf of members of the committee, thanked the Wa West District Education Directorate for the confidence reposed in them and assured their readiness to ensure discipline among education stakeholders in the Wa West district. He said they will not relent in meeting the expectations of all stakeholders.
