The Paramount Chief of Pulima and President of the Pulima Traditional Area (Gandawii), Kuoru Osman Deiwia Nankpa III, has extended invitation to all residents on Sissala land who have moved far from their homes to return to the land this New Year.
Such visits back home are necessary to reunite and reconnect with families, friends, as well as school and business associates, he said.
He stated that “we are still welcoming our brothers and sisters back home with open arms. Your home is the land of Sissala. Please use this opportunity, return home and establish a life in Sisaala land.”
According to Kuoru Nankpa III, the Sissala land offers enormous economic opportunities that they can take advantage of. He highlighted some vacation destinations that relatives who had been absent for years can benefit from.
Among the locations listed are the Gwollu Slave Wall, Kassana Slave Caves, Gbelle Game Reserve, Silbelle Dam Birds Sanctuary, and many others.
Hailing from the Sisaala West District in the Upper West Region, the President of the GANDAWII said the Sissala land has great agricultural potential, thus urged family members who will be returning home to start some farms for both crops and animals.
The venerable chief also called for unity among his kinsmen as it is the only way that they can develop the area and the region at large. ‘’I find it incomprehensible that some people will leave home for more than 20 years and never return. It’s time for us to realize that, if we come together, we Sisaalas can use foreign aid and our economic opportunities to improve our land and the Upper West Region’’ he counseled.
