Loggu Community Day Secondary School Appeals For Students Beds, Dining Hall And Dormitory
The head teacher for loggu community day senior high school in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region Mr.Calistus Haruna Sung-yera has appealed to the government to come to the aid of the school by getting them student’s beds, Dining hall and a Dormitory
The school which was established in 2016 with first students population of 87 is one of the John Mahama community day senior high schools built in Loggu a farming community in the Wa East District of the Upper west region
According to Mr,Sung-Yera, the school is no more a day school but rather a boarding school , students who were supposed to be staying outside campus are now staying on campus and they are been fed by the school with lunch whiles breakfast and super all are catered by the students themselves.
He said, the school administration has converted some classrooms into dormitories for the students without beds hence forces them to kip on the bare floor in the dormitories, he said the community lacks accommodation for teachers how much more getting rooms for students
Most of the students who are admitted to the school are students who are not from communities around Loggu, some come as far as Eastern Region and Volter region to attend the school and hence can not get any good accommodation with basic social amenities that can help them stay through the years in the community.
Mr. Calistus also pointed out that, the upper west regional minister has honored his promise to the school on 10th June, 2020 to get them 50 bags of cement during a stakeholders meeting in wa when he appealed for help to build a bathroom for female students of the school who had their bathroom wind off by rainstorm.
Meanwhile, the school accommodates a student population of about 487 with a teaching staff of close to 50.
On the distribution of 100 buses by the vice president Dr Mahamud Bawumia of which the upper west region received 12, the head master expresses his gratitude to the government for also benefiting.
He said the 32 seater bus will support the movement of the students and staff during organized programmes in the region and outside the region.
A youth leader in the community who is popularly known as Naa (chief) who spoke to Radio Mak News said the Loggu community Day Senior High School has come as a blessing to them, according to him; Loggu has now become a household name when it comes to education. He also called on the government to come to the aid of the school since they do not have a befitting kitchen and accommodation.
In an interaction with some small scale business operators in the community, they expressed that, the school has come to increase their sales over the years; they said some of the students buy their school provisions in the community and food stuffs for their meals. They indicated that if government should invest in the school by getting them a dormitory and dining hall, it would also boost their economic activities in the Community.
