UWR: Minister pays courtesy call on Chiefs in Upper West Region


Dr.Hafiz Bin Salih, Upper West Regional Minister has begun a month-long courtesy call on chiefs in the Upper West Region.
The chiefs he visited on Saturday include,Kuoru Osman Deiwia Nankpa the paramount chief of Pulima and president of the Pulima traditional council, Kuoro Sukabe Abu Ninia, the paramount chief of Zini and president of the Zini traditional council and Kuoru Kuri-Buktie Liman the paramount chief of Gwollu and president of Gwollu traditional council all in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region 
Dr.Hafiz said the visit was to express his gratitude to the various chiefs for their support during his two years as upper west regional minister from 27th March 2019 to 6th January 2021.
His second reason was to again thank them on behalf of the president for voting for the NPP party and subsequently reappointed as the minister in charge of the upper west region.The minister uses the opportunity and appealed  to the chiefs for their support as he starts another journey as the presiden representative in the region. 
The Regional Minister called for peace, unity, and a strong partnership in the administration of the region to enable him to work for the development of the region.
He said for the region to thrive, there was the need to work towards the eradication of poverty, illiteracy, and diseases, adding that, this could only be achieved if peace was sustained in the area.
He assured the chiefs of an open-door administration and urged them to help promote peace to ensure that their work becomes successful.


Kuoro Sukabe Abu Ninia, the paramount chief for the Zini traditional area where the minister first visited said his traditional area has benefited from a Health Facility and  10 Seater KVIP in Zini as their share of the National Development for the past 4 years of the NPP government.
He commended the government for the projects but also appealed to the minister to work closely with the roads minister to get the Han-Zini-Gwollu road worked on to help farmers transport their form produce to the market center. 
He also appealed to the minister to consider the voices of the youth in the appointment of a DCE for the Sissala West District. 


Kuoru Kuri-Buktie Liman appealed to the government through the regional minister to construct a new district hospital for the district as part of the government plans to build 88 district hospitals and attached health training school to the hospital to meet the health needs of the district.
The current health facility in the district did not have the capacity as a district hospital Kuoru Buktie also asked for adequate technical and Administrative facilities to uplift and inaugurate the Dr.Hillia Liman Technical University in Wa.


Kuoru Osman Diewia Nankpa also appealed to the minister to construct a Technical and Vocational Training Institute in the Sissala West District to cater for the many teaming youth who will want to go into skills development but have not had the facilities available to take advantage of.
He said the district has only one secondary school and adding them Technical and Vocational Training Institute will help accelerate development in the area.
On telecommunication, the chief appealed to the telecommunication networks to extend their networks to the Gandawii traditional area as they struggle to make calls in the various communities.
Kuoro Nankpa said a good telecommunication network is a catalyst for  development.

Dr. Bin Salih assured Zini Kuoro of working on the road from Han to Gwollu, which he said will help the government fully implement its flagship agricultural program, Planting for Food and Jobs, he said roads will be one of his topmost priority in his second term as minister.
Dr.Hafiz also assured the pulima and Gwollu chiefs on working on the Wa-Han-Tumu road and also the Fian-Kojokperi to Tumu road which is an alternative route to Tumu.
On the construction of a district hospital, the minister told Gwollu Kuoro that very soon they will be cutting sod for the project to start and he will make sure enough doctors are posted to the facility after it is completed.
