The Member of Parliament for the Wa West constituency, Superintendent (rtd) Peter Lanchene Toobu, has underscored the need for a polyclinic to serve Dorimon and its surrounding communities in order to improve healthcare delivery in the Wa West District.
To this end, Mr. Toobu appealed to the District Chief Executive of the Wa West to use part of monies allocated for the World Bank funded Social Cohesion project (SOCO) to construct a polyclinic in Dorimon as a way of serving the health needs of people in the area.
The MP believes it will not be out of place to use the SOCO funds for a polyclinic as it will go a long way to addressing health challenges that could destabilize the peace of the area.
Mr. Toobu made this appeal during a short ceremony to cut sod for the construction of a women-led self-help Children Ward at the Dorimon Health Center.
The idea for the project started after the MP donated GHC5,000 to the community’s Mother-to-Mother group to support the printing of t-shirts for their operations. However, after receiving the money, the women decided to use it to mold blocks to start the construction of the Ward.
Upon learning this, Supt. (rtd) Peter Lanchene lauded the women for their thoughtfulness and pledged to contribute his widow’s mite to ensure that the Dorimon Health Center gets a befitting ward for children. Thus, he donated another GHC5,000 towards the project during the sod-cutting ceremony on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
On his part, the Assembly member for Dorimon Electoral Area, Saaka Fuseini applauded the MP for his numerous interventions in the area of health for the Dorimon catchment area. Hon. Fuseini pledged his total support to support the process to see to the completion of the project, which he said will support quality healthcare delivery in the area. The leaderships of the Mother-to-Mother group, Father-to-Father group and Back to Life Again expressed their commitment and support for the project. They also thanked the MP for his support and guidance, while indicating that they will continue to take up initiatives that will yield to the timely completion of the project.
